    Welcome

We live on a small farm, south of Green Cove Springs, in Northeast Florida, approximately 30 miles west of historic, St. Augustine.  Not only do we raise AKC Labrador retrievers, but we also own and operate a professional pet sitting service-"Creature Care Plus"!!

Please visit that web site too: www.creaturecareplus.com

We purchased our first Labrador, a chocolate female we named "Mocara", in 1989.  She was, without a doubt, the reason we fell in love with the breed!  Just a truly wonderful dog that we were lucky enough to have for 13+ years!  We often still talk about her lying next to our newborn daughter's crib, or patiently waiting for that baby to stop playing in her food bowl, so she could finish eating!  As she aged and her systems began to fail, her tail still wagged as hard and fast as it did on that day we first brought her home!  She still resides with us, not only in a small urn on our mantle, but also in our hearts!

"Mocara"

We prefer the shorter, stockier, large boned, block-head, "English Style", as opposed to the taller, leaner, more energetic, "American", or "Field" Labrador.  We strive to produce an all around Labrador with the temperament to make a wonderful family pet, as well as characteristics strong enough for the show ring.

We would like to be able to claim that our present dogs are a result of our many years of breeding, but we have to give credit where credit is due!  Even though we have had an occasional litter since about 1990, we didn't start a serious breeding program until 2001.   Our present line of dogs is more a continuation of another breeder's many years of hard work!  Let us explain further....

In the early 1990's, we were looking for another Labrador to go along with "Mocara".  We had the great fortune to meet Emmett Compton of "Black Creek Labradors" in Middleburg, Florida, who had been breeding/showing  for many years.  We purchased a chocolate male from him first and then a yellow female a few years later.  Little did we know at the time, that this yellow female we named, "Nugget" would turn out to become our foundation bitch!  About the same time we purchased "Nugget", Emmett kept a male puppy from one of his litters that he named "Isaac".  When "Nugget" and "Isaac" became of breeding age, we bred them and the rest is history!

Emmett continued his breeding program and we always kidded him that if he ever wanted to "get rid" of "Isaac", we'd gladly take him off his hands!!  What a great looking Labrador, with a personality like no other!  Emmett was (and still is) always there to answer our many questions and to assist with breedings!  When he retired several years ago, he and his wife, Melanie were going to take a vacation and he brought "Isaac" out here to spend the time with our dogs.  "Isaac" is still here!  Emmett decided to switch from raising Labradors to raising grandbabies!  We purchased "Isaac" in 2003.

So..... our line of dogs is a continuation of Emmett Compton's lines at "Black Creek Labradors" and the genetics of his breeding program.  We cannot thank him enough for all that he has done and we would not have the great dogs that we have now, if not for him.  Even though he has since moved to Alabama to be closer to his family, we still hope that one day he will return to breeding and the show ring!

We'd like to thank you for looking at our web site and please contact us with any questions, inquiries, or comments.  We are looking forward to talking to you more about this wonderful breed!
